North East Michigan, the one places in the state were tracks are few and far between lies one of the lesser known tracks,

Dirt, Inc. with a mix of soils and varied sections, its one of those hidden gems, we talked to Craig Schram about the track and who Dirt, Inc is.

(Editors note: Dirt, Inc is Non AMA, true OUTLAW track, $10Gate fee and $20/class entry with discount for multiple classes )

MIMX: Dirt Inc is an fairly unknown name in the Michigan MX community, tell us about how it all started.

Craig: Dirt Inc all started as a nonprofit origination that didn’t want to see the sport of motocross die in Northern Michigan. It is run by a group of dedicated families that have a true love for the sport. We started about 10 years ago and would love to make it 10 more years.

MIMX: Tell us about the track

Craig: The track has a layout that is fit for any rider. Tame enough for a beginner to feel comfortable, but still includes challenging sections to keep the more experienced riders excited. You could split the track into three sections. The front, back, and wooded midsection. The front is more of a hard pact dirt with a mixture jumps of various sizes from beginner table tops to a large finish line triple. The back features a deep sand section with sweeping corners that is split lined and produces great passing spots. The midsection has a loamy soil that uses the natural hills in the layout to produce fun flowing corners. Overall the track flows great and is well liked by the riders in attendance. Registration is from 7-9 with practice starting at 9 and racing to follow at 10. Pictures of the track can be found on our Facebook (Dirtinc Lincoln)

MIMX: You have a benefit coming up tell us a little bit about that.

Craig: A local motocross racer, Billy Travis was killed during an oval snowmobile race. He left behind a soon to be wife with a baby on the way. To help her out financially with the child we are holding a memorial race in Billy’s honor. The race will be a 20 min plus one lap moto with 100 % of the proceeds going to his family. It will be $40 entry fee and we hope to see a packed gate. Cash a trophy payouts will be award as well as a handmade “Hard Charger” trophy as a rider incentive to get everyone out there to race for a guy that would love nothing more than to get on the line himself one more time.

MIMX: Any words for the riders the riders who haven't been to your track?

Craig: Dirt Inc is a laid-back family oriented facility where a rider can come and just have a good time. We like to keep it fun with a massive fire pit and during our July race weekend we have fireworks and even have a slip and slide. With a close campground on Lake Huron, and Hubbard Lake within 15 mins it can create a fun filled weekend. Camping is available. On our practice days, we allow riders to get a ton of seat time rotating thru a 5 session program starting at 9 am and running till 5.
