Costs at the track

Ok, you’re ready to practice or race at the track, what's it going to cost?   As with any business each track varies from the next.  This is a short breakdown of costs (Bike cost is wildly varied so go to the Buying a NEW Dirt bike or Buying a USED Dirt bike page to explore that more)

Before we get into the Membership stuff let’s get some totals  (Click HERE to Go to Memberships)

Typical Practice Day (Not including a track membership)

$25-30

Typical Race Day (not including memberships)

$40

Gate Fees $5-10/day for normal dates

On a Practice Day this varies per track because some tracks do not charge a "gate fee" only a practice fee.   Plan on $5 extra dollars per person for a practice day anyway just to cover yourself.

Race Day gate fees are for ALL spectators and racers alike, most MI tracks charge $10/day, BUT if you race on a Saturday you must pay for Sunday as well (you will get the other $10 back if you leave before the gates close on Sat. night) SO PLAN accordingly

Practice Day Fees $20-30

These are the actual fees to ride on the track during a practice day

On any given practice day may run like this

Track A :  $5 gate fee + $20 Practice fee = $25 total
Track B :  $5 gate fee + $25 Practice fee = $30 total
Track C :  $0 gate fee + $30 Practice fee = $30 total

Look on your destination tracks website or Facebook page for more information on this as it changes sometimes yearly

Race Fees: $20-30/class entered

On a Race Day at a D14 or GLMX Track the standard class entry fee is $30 with no discount for additional class sign ups
Scroll down to see more about the GLMX and D14

In the SJO and some Outlaw tracks fees range $20-25 and give you a discount for multiple class sign ups.

Memberships $5-50

This one’s a bit tricky and we go into more detail about what a “membership” gets you in the section below.

Some MI tracks require you to have a “Track Membership” to practice
$5 for a daily and $25 for a yearly

Most MI tracks are AMA Charters and require and AMA membership to race
$50 yearly

As explained below there are 2 separate AMA Series in the state (D14 and GLMX) and
each require another membership to race

Cost is  $15

Memberships

The short answer is YOU NEED MEMBERSHIPS to race.  (With limited exceptions)

This may get confusing and if need be send us an email at Michiganmotocross@hotmail.com

In MI we have no lack of tracks, promotors and MX series.    We will attempt to break down everything, but sometimes even we are confused.
